Disco Takes Over
I recently bought a 2×12″ Atlantic records promo called “You’ve Never Been Hit So Hard”, which has some killer tracks like Phreek “Weekend” and a Fantastic Four track with Dennis Coffey. Stuffed inside the jacket was an article from a 1979 issue of Newsweek called “Disco Takes Over”. It’s a really interesting read, and surprisingly in depth.
There are some interesting bits about Disco DJing, and Kebekelektrik’s “Wardance” is even mentioned, which really surprised me. Oh, and Moroder mentions “[Moog synthesizers] are the new instruments of the year 2000.”
Whoever cut out this article 30(!) years ago underlined and highlighted certain sections. I think it might have been a gay DJ, since many of the highlighted sections seem to deal with the gay community and/or DJing. There’s really no way of knowing at this point.

Thanks for posting this, had this and many articles from countless magazines about disco all properly sorted and stored. I was in my early teens and my parents threw them all away in the early 1980’s without saying a word. 30 years later I still want to refer to them…
