Minimal Effort

Space disco, cosmic, italo madness

Welcome

January14

Welcome to my music blog.  I’ve been a DJ continuously since 1990 and a music fan my entire life.  One of the things that really made me want to start DJing was the love of sharing music with others.  This is why I started this blog!

I love buying records, but like many of us, I don’t have a lot of money for expensive vinyl rarities.  I’ve always been good at finding great music for very little money.  Thrift shops, yard sales and record shop bargain bins can all be little goldmines if you’re patient enough to wade through the dreck.

For the habitual record buyer there’s nothing like that feeling you get from finding that E.S.G. record or rare cosmic disco record while flipping through a huge pile of 101 Strings and Lawrence Welk LPs.  The feeling that hidden in that stack of dusty, moldy records, there is that one gem that you just have to find…

This is a chronicle of my vinyl finds as well as my occasional DJ mixes and other discoveries.  The majority of the records posted here were found locally, usually for under $2.  Audio clips will be available for a short time only.  Everything I post here are rips and scans from my own vinyl collection.

You can expect to hear mostly records from the 70’s and 80’s.  Disco, funk, industrial, italo, new wave, post punk, cosmic, electro, house, B-sides, alternate versions, remixes, bootlegs and other weirdness.  Out of the ordinary records that deserve to be heard, and hopefully haven’t been on all the other blogs.

If you enjoy what you see and hear, leave me a comment so I know you’ve been here!  And make sure to use the RSS icon at the bottom of the page to subscribe!
